Dear all, lieve allemaal,
I am in Colobo now. Staying at Auntie Sheila's. She's a wonderful, classy lady where I can stay during my time in Colombo. I have been working for my project now since last Wednesday. That's only 5 days, and I have learned so much! To give some examples..I have visited a pre school, taught children to sing 'Ooh ooh Jamie the Pilot', I have performed for parents and children at this school, I performed at the Lion's Club in Colombo, yesterday I was a guest singer with a Sri Lankan jazz band and a Calypso band. I have met very good musicians, business people with large networks, teachers, priests, school directors and a Belgian professor who wants to integrate my music project with educational knowledge and volunteers from Belgium and I have someone who will introduce me to the former president! The first reactions of people here regarding the project are very encouraging. An important theme in Sri Lanka, is the pressure on cognitive level of the children. They would love a program that teaches children intuitively and also involves parents (by reading the book at home). I fall from one experience into another and if I don't deliberately walk away (to this internet shop for instance) I'm never alone, in other words, I am very happy to have wonderful, kind and fun people surrounding me here. I really made friends..so I suppose I have to get back!
get back to you soon
Love, Karin
